THE BEMS REUNION IS BACK!

Yes, it's official: we will hold our third-ever BEMS reunion in Miami Beach from May 15 to 18, 2024.

We'll provide more programming details soon, but the plan is to start with a welcome reception on the evening of Wednesday, May 15, discuss four new cases across Thursday morning and Friday morning, leave plenty of time for social events in the afternoons and evenings on those days, and wrap at around 1PM on Saturday, May 18.

As always at the helm of these events, BEMS alumni Emily Anadu, HBS 2005 & BEMS 2018 and Robyn Wilson BEMS 2018, have been hard at work arranging everything, and we cannot wait to welcome you to Miami and catch up with old and new BEMS friends.

Participant Registration and Fees

The fee to participate is $1,650. This fee covers all costs we incur related to the hotel and our sessions (including the rental of our meeting space, the audio/visual setup, and other hotel fees), the welcome reception on Wednesday evening, breakfast and lunches on Thursday and Friday, a group dinner on Thursday, and breakfast and closing activities on Saturday. The participant fee does not cover your hotel room costs or incidentals, travel costs, food outside of the meals listed above, or additional social events that may be offered at the reunion. (Further below, you’ll see that the hotel room rates are very reasonable, so hopefully that helps!)

We have room for 100 people at the 2024 reunion on a first-come, first-served basis. In order to secure your spot, we ask that you register by March 15, 2024 via TypeForm – click here to go to the registration form. Please note that if we reach capacity before this date, we may not be able to accommodate you. (And also please note that as Emily is handling the payments and the registration form through her businesses, you might see references to The Lay Out and/ or BuyBLK.ByBLK. on the forms and payment confirmations.)

The program is meant for BEMS alumni only. We hope you understand that partners, spouses and those who have not taken the course are unfortunately not able to attend the classes or social events.

Accomodations

We have secured room blocks from the evening of Wednesday, May 15 through the morning of Saturday, May 18 at the good time hotel. In order to secure good rates for you at this hotel, we have committed to purchasing a block of rooms. If we don't meet our minimum, we're going to be faced with a deficit, so we hope many of you will choose to stay at our event hotel. (And what’s the fun in staying somewhere else anyway? Good times will be had at the good time hotel. ;-))

Once you have registered for the reunion, you will automatically receive an email through TypeForm that will include the links and group codes to book your hotel rooms. You will need to book your room directly with the hotel before April 8, 2024 in order to take advantage of our room rates. Here are key details:

The good time hotel - 601 Washington Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33139, United States

Wednesday, May 15 - Saturday, May 18 @ $209 a night (+ $40 a night taxes and destination fees)

To accommodate those of you who’d like to stay an extra day, the hotel is extending our special rate through Saturday night for a smaller set of rooms. As you can imagine, Saturday night is busy in Miami so those rooms must be booked as soon as possible.

Cancellation & Refunds

As we will be contractually obligated to the goodtime hotel for the event, catering and other shared costs, we will not be able to offer refunds once you have paid. With respect to your hotel rooms, please confirm the cancellation policy with the hotel at the time of your booking.

A Few Words About the Organization

A few additional pieces of information, in the spirit of full transparency: Our aim is to run this reunion on a non-profit basis. As we did in 2022, Emily’s company, Cultivate Collective, is taking on the financial liability and contract for the reunion. Because Emily and Robyn have also again volunteered to spent a significant amount of time organizing the event, I think it's fair that we collectively cover Emily and Robyn’s registration fee and their hotel expenses. As for me, since I’ll be teaching you a few of my best new cases, I am hoping to forego paying the registration fee as well, and plan to use my HBS budget to pay for my accommodation. We may again enlist Kevin's services as a videographer and pay him a small fee for his time. Our budget assumes a maximum of 100 alumni will attend. In case we end up with a surplus, we will reinvest those funds into a next reunion or explore ways to offer partial refunds.

This is not an official Harvard Business School event; rather, it is a private event organized by BEMS alumni. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out to Emily Anadu and Robyn Wilson at our new, fancy reunion email address: bemsreunion@gmail.com. As part of the registration, we will be asking what (if any) phone number you would like added to the official WhatsApp group, so we can keep you up to date with any announcements.

Emily, Robyn and I can’t wait to see you all in Miami!
